Welcome to Walloon Lake, Michigan

Black Bear Lodge is home to the spectacular Walloon Lake’s west arm. Walloon Lake is known to be a desirable location burrowed between the Little Traverse regions and the Jordan Valley, being one of Northern Michigan’s most prized vacation destinations. Our Walloon Lake vacation rentals feature a beautifully decorated, landscaped, and fully furnished cottage that provides the perfect getaway retreat with all the conveniences of staying home.

Walloon Lake is home to a variety of fish such as walleye, smallmouth bass, northern pike, rock bass, perch, rainbow, and lake trout. The lake is also known to be the summer home to the Hemingway family. Ernest Hemingway and his family finished building their summer cottage in the year 1899, forever being a part of the family’s hearts and souls. It was here that Ernest had become the writer and adventure seeker, fishing, swimming, and enjoying nature, that we remember today. The Hemingway family summer cottage and the lake remain home to the family today.

Here in the heart of Pure Michigan, you can discover endless adventures with your friends and family. If you enjoy thrilling attractions, historical arts, culture, exciting places to eat, shopping, or the simple outdoors, Walloon Lake is the vacation stop for you. Whether you are looking to do some fishing, boating, skiing, swimming, shopping near downtown Petoskey, or just relaxing by the water, you’re sure to create vacation memories that will last a lifetime.
